boseiai

there have been an ocean of heartbeats
set deep
within your chest
pounding out a tuneless song

from sunrise
a child's feet wet upon the sand
tentative
      anxious
           s - t (stumble) e - p
           to
           st - ep
      (hands waiting just within reach)
until the first steps
patterned
      steady
walkingshufflingrunning
left and right
right and left

(hands always waiting just within reach)

scraped knees
shed tears
      and
broken promises

and the child ages
spreading wings
morning heat breaking on the waves
stretching limbs
      reaching for the sky
and the years pass as moments

      (hands still waiting)

and the beat continues
      silent
      persistent
           never wavering
      and the wind whispers
with the voice of máithreachas

      I'll love you forever
      I'll love you for always
      As long as I'm living
      My baby you'll be

      (hands always waiting

           just within reach)

i haven't written in months.
possibly years.
and i was laying about today listening to NPR and thought of my mother.
this isn't strange, as NPR always reminds me of my mother (despite it being mother's day today)

we are fairly close.
and even though we live about a thousand miles apart...
sometimes the emotional bond is palpable.
i felt that this morning.

so i wrote this poem.

i might try to start writing again.
get back into shape.

i apologize is this comes across as ...well... crap.
i'm out of practice and i've been up since yesterday sometime.
just thinking about napping now.

in case anybody was wondering...the title is
boseiai. which translates to "mother's love" in japanese.
i also use the word máithreachas, which, roughly translated ... means "mothering" in (irish) gaelic.

out of practice perhaps, but your missteps are still some of the most impressive

i loved the flow of this...the rhythm with its halting stumbles and how perfectly it worked to help form your imagery

...wonderful work...
